The Department of Pathology of our hospital successfully set up the Liaocheng City Molecular Pathology Key Laboratory in September 2018.In December 2018, Liaocheng City made a special grant to support the construction of the laboratory.

   The Key Laboratory of Molecular Pathology of Liaocheng City Second People's Hospital is the first molecular pathology laboratory in Liaocheng City that was projected by the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau. It is located in the Department of Pathology on the third floor of the Medical Technology Building in Huamei Hospital District, covering an area of more than 1,000 square meters, with four full-time professionals and technicians, two with senior titles, two with intermediate titles, including one with a doctoral degree, one with a master's degree, and two with a bachelor's degree. The laboratory has reasonable layout and advanced equipment, including ABI fluorescence quantitative PCR, Hologic Panther system, in situ hybridization instrument, flow cytometer, fluorescence microscope and other advanced equipment, and passed the acceptance of Shandong Province Clinical Inspection Center in 2021.

   Since the establishment of the laboratory, it has gradually carried out a number of testing programs:

   Tumor-related gene detection;

   Drug gene detection;

   EBV in situ hybridization detection;

   Human papillomavirus HPV E6/E7mRNA detection;

   Flow cytometry program;

   Helicobacter pylori antibody testing, etc.

   The establishment of molecular pathology laboratory can carry out advanced testing programs, provide more accurate testing methods, clarify the target treatment plan, and provide the basis for the development of individualized diagnosis and treatment. It can strengthen the scientific research capacity of the hospital department and provide an advanced technology platform for scientific research and teaching, which has good social and economic benefits.
