Chronicle of the first anniversary of the launch of the infusion port in our two-gland (thyroid and breast) surgery department
In April, as the song goes, flowers bloomed under the warm and sunny sky. It has been one year since the infusion port was carried out in our two-gland (thyroid and breast) surgery department. Since the first case of infusion port implantation was carried out on March 24, 2020, the medical and nursing staff of the department have closely cooperated with each other to carry out fine and homogeneous management of infusion ports and jointly maintain the safety of the "port", and a total of 70 cases have been implanted so far. After one year's accumulation, all the medical and nursing staff of the department have rich experience in clinical implantation and port removal, and have mastered this technology!
Infusion Port Profile:
Implantable drug delivery device, also known as intravenous port, is an intravenous infusion device that is surgically implanted under the skin and left in the body for a long period of time. It mainly consists of an injection holder for puncture and an intravenous catheter system, with the catheter opening at the junction of the superior vena cava and the right atrium, and the infusion channel can be established by puncturing the port with a nondestructive needle to create a good and reliable intravenous pathway for patients undergoing long-term infusion therapy. It establishes a good and reliable venous access for patients undergoing long-term infusion therapy. It can be left in the body for 3-5 years and up to 20 years or more. The tube can be taken home between treatments.
Infusion port applies:
1、Patients with difficulty in peripheral intravenous infusion;
2、Patients who need to infuse high concentration, strong stimulating drugs or intravenous chemotherapy;
3、Patients who need long-term intravenous infusion and total intravenous high nutrition infusion;
4, patients who need chemotherapy after bilateral breast cancer surgery.
Advantages of IV infusion ports:
1、Reduce the pain of puncture: Reduce the pain and difficulty of repeated puncture of peripheral veins, at the same time, it can deliver all kinds of drugs directly to the central vein, preventing the damage of irritating drugs to the peripheral veins.
2、Low risk of infection: Because of its simple operation and subcutaneous implantation, it reduces the risk of infection.
3、Convenient for patients: It is not easy to be noticed by others when it is embedded under the skin, and after removing the puncture needle, it can be used for normal bathing and swimming.
4、Simple maintenance: it can be maintained once every 4 weeks between treatments, reducing the number of times patients go to and from the hospital and saving expenses.
5, the use of a long period of time: the placement time can be up to several years, the longest up to 20 years or more, specifically with the infusion catheter aging speed and the patient's individual physique.
There are several issues that should be taken into account in the daily life of a port-of-infusion carrier:
1, infusion port implantation wound healing usually takes about 7 days, after removing the stitches after 2-3 days can take a bath, do not vigorously rub the local.
2、Female patients should pay attention to avoid underwear straps friction in the area around the port seat, avoid gravity impact infusion port implantation site.
3, implanted infusion port patients can engage in general daily work, housework, easy exercise, but avoid the use of the same side of the arm body overweight objects (should be less than 5 kg), excessive activities, prohibit high hanging clothes, playing ball, pull-ups, lifting dumbbells, heavy manual labor.
4, maintenance every 4 weeks during the treatment interval, if discharged from the hospital can not return to our maintenance, please be sure to go to the local regular hospital for maintenance.
5、When doing CT, MRI high-pressure contrast examination, it is strictly prohibited to use high-pressure injection of contrast medium to prevent catheter rupture.
6、If there is pain in the shoulder and neck and swelling or pain in the upper limbs of the same side, please return to the hospital for examination in time.
7、If there is cough, constipation, heart disease and other diseases that increase the pressure in the chest cavity during catheterization, active treatment is needed to prevent the catheter from shifting due to the increased pressure in the superior vena cava.
Taking patients as the center, advancing with the times, constantly developing new technology, continuously improving service quality, and providing more scientific, standardized and high-quality medical services for the majority of patients are the service goals and pursuits of the Department of Surgery of the Two Glands. The Department of Surgery of Both Glands will take the quality service activities carried out by the hospital and the first anniversary of the infusion port as an opportunity to further strengthen and improve the whole process of management of the infusion port technology, and make the implantation, removal, subsequent maintenance and complication treatment of the infusion port more standardized, so as to create a "harbor" for the recovery of patients with long-term infusion therapy.
