World Alzheimer's Disease Day is celebrated on 21 September 2024. In order to actively respond to the call of "Act Now: Light up the Light of Memory", the Hospital launched an Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Campaign. The campaign aims to raise public awareness of Alzheimer's disease, popularise the knowledge of prevention and early intervention, and jointly build a solid memory guardian defence for the elderly.

On the morning of 18 September, in the waiting area of our outpatient clinic, Guo Qian, Deputy Chief Physician of Neurology Ward 2, explained the basics of Alzheimer's Disease, its causes, clinical symptoms and preventive measures, etc. At the same time, Hualui, a nurse practitioner of Neurology Ward 2, demonstrated to the waiting patients and their families on finger exercises, and emphasised the importance of early identification, exercise and intervention. In addition, the experts introduced practical ways to prevent Alzheimer's disease in daily life, such as maintaining a healthy lifestyle and brain training. Afterwards, the expert team came to Daxinzhuang Village to explain to the villagers about Alzheimer's disease and provide them with free consultation services. The experts patiently answered the villagers' questions and provided them with personalised prevention and treatment advice, so that the villagers could have a more intuitive understanding of the daily life of Alzheimer's disease patients, and the villagers were given a cognitive assessment free of charge at the scene of the activity to encourage villagers to pay attention to their own health and that of their family members, and to have regular medical check-ups and cognitive function screenings. The activity also provided free cognitive assessment for the villagers, encouraging them to pay attention to their own health and that of their family members, and to have regular medical check-ups and cognitive function screening.

The campaign not only raised public awareness of the disease, but also enhanced the health consciousness of the general public. Alzheimer's disease is a serious neurological disease that imposes a huge burden on individuals and families. Our hospital will continue to strengthen its missionary work to raise public awareness of the disease and its prevention and treatment, as well as provide quality medical services to patients, and work together to guard the memory and health of the elderly.
