The Department of Ophthalmology of Liaocheng City No.2 Hospital is a key clinical specialty in Liaocheng City, founded in the 36th year of the Republic of China (1947), which is the earliest independent department among the hospitals in the city and one of the earliest departments to realise surgical microscopic operation, and it enjoys high reputation in the city and the surrounding areas. Existing clinical subspecialties: corneal and ocular surface diseases, cataract, glaucoma, vitreoretinal diseases, paediatric ophthalmology, refractive surgery and optometry. At present, the department has established consultation and surgical collaboration with Beijing Tongren Hospital, the General Hospital of the People's Liberation Army, the Eye Hospital of China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Affiliated Eye Hospital of the First Medical University of Shandong Province, Jinan Eye Hospital and other famous ophthalmology departments in China.

ZEISS IOL MASTER biometric instrument from Germany, Nidec computer optometry and comprehensive optometry table from Japan, Japan Topcon non-contact tonometer, U.S. Nuctech S4 excimer laser, Moria M2 microkeratome from France, TOMEY-4 corneal topography, TOMEY SP-3000 corneal thickening instrument from Japan, as well as ophthalmology ultrasound, computer visual field instrument and other advanced equipments. The work carried out basically covers all kinds of work that can be carried out by the Department of Ophthalmology of prefecture-level hospitals.
